DescriptionGirl's two-piece dress, consisting of a bodice (.a) and a skirt (.b), made of white cotton printed with a small blue polka dot pattern. The bodice has a 10 1/2-inch-long gathered peplum edged with scalloped whitework embroidery. The high, round neckline is edged with a narrow ruffle of whitework under a bias band of self-fabric, along with a two-inch-wide whitework ruffle which spreads out towards the shoulders. The bodice is gathered into a yoke across the shoulders and into the 1 5/8-inch-wide waistband. The long, two-piece sleeves are fitted smoothly into the armscye, which is cut at the natural shoulderline. The wrists are edged with a double ruffle of whitework under narrow, bias-cut bands of self-fabric. The opening extends the length of the center back and fastens with nine mother of pearl buttons.
The skirt is smooth across the front and gathered over the hips and across the back. It is decorated with four tiers of ruffles edged with scalloped whitework. The center back opening extends six inches and fastens with a single bone button on the waistband.
