DescriptionSmall girl's dress of peach-colored cotton (now discolored with dark blotches throughout) embellished with embroidery. The very wide neckline is controlled with a double row of drawstrings. The sleeves consist only of ruffles, flaring out from the neckline. The bodice is closely gathered into the 3/4-inch-wide waistband, which is piped along the bottom edge. The very full skirt is cartridge-pleated into the waistline. A 1 1/4-inch-wide tuck is taken around the skirt, about midway down the length. The ruffled edge around the neckline created by the drawstring is embellished with white feather-stitched embroidery. A line of this embroidery also appears on the ruffled sleeves, along each edge of the waistband, along the top edge of the skirt tuck, and along the stitching line of the hem allowance. The center back opening extends twelve inches and fastens with brass hooks and eyes at the waist and with the drawstring at the neckline.
