DescriptionThe crown of this infant cap is composed of alternating strips of sheer cotton embroidered with roses and bows and valenciennes lace with a vine pattern. Satin ribbon (1 1/2 inches wide) is stitched across the tops of the crown and finished with a bow at each end. The brim of the cap is also constructed of these alternating strips, and is finished with a pleated ruffle of fine, plain-woven cotton fabric, edged with embroidered roses and bows. A second layer of fine cotton is found under the pleated ruffle; it is finished with two rows of 1/4-inch lace. Two 17-inch long ties (made of the same satin ribbon used to decorate the crown) are attached at the bottom corners of the cap; the bottom edge of the cap is covered with this ribbon, gathered in four sections.
