DescriptionA sketch plan and a detailed floor plan drawn to scale show the basement of the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Included are a recreation hall with cast iron columns, a platform (or stage?), booths, a kitchen with a serving counter, a boiler room with coal bins, closets, stairs, and exits.
NotesHistorical Notes: John J. McMahon executed these architecural plans for renovations to the basement of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, corner of Park St. and Hungerford St., Hartford, Connecticut, on 23 October 1945.
The drawings were enclosed in a wrapper labeled "FIRE DEPT. PLANS" and may have been executed to illustrate compliance with fire safety codes. (Finlay 5/30/2003)
