Description(.a): Small child's dress of white cotton. It is long-sleeved and has a yoke across the front and back. In front, this yoke is composed of vertical bands of self-fabric ruching, narrow pleats, and pulled threadwork. In the back, the yoke is plain in the center, with ruching along the back of the shoulders. The neckline is high and round, edged with a self-fabric ruffle. The sleeves are gathered both at the armscye and at the cuff. The skirt is gathered along the bottom of the yoke. It is decorated above the 4 1/4-inch-deep hem with pulled threadwork. The full sleeves are gathered into the armscye and into a narrow cuff of pulled threadwork. The center back opening is 10 inches long; there is no visible means of closure.

(.b): Matching petticoat of white cotton. The fabric is gathered into a 1 1/4-inch waistband, which has three 1-inch button holes at center front and on either side of the center back opening. Beginning 4 1/8 inches down from the waistband, there is a series of six horizontal 1/2-inch tucks. (It appears that one more tuck has been taken out.) Heading the two-inch deep hem is a row of pulled threadwork that is identical to that found on the skirt of the dress. The opening at the back of the petticoat is 6 3/4-inches long. Originally, there would have been a shirt as part of this outfit, to which the petticoat buttoned.
