DescriptionA German Iron Cross awarded in 1914 for World War I. The medal is a Maltese Cross made of cast iron edged with silver. The center of the medal is black. There is a crown in the top area, a "W" in the center, and "1914" in the bottom area. The reverse side has a crown at the top, "FW" beneath, a three-leaf plant in the center, and "1813" in the bottom area.
NotesHistorical Note: The German Iron Cross was used by Adolf Hitler during World War II, and the medal was awarded to Germans and allies of Germany for exceptional bravery and/or leadership in the face of the enemy.Status
