NotesHistorical Note: The Hartford Whalers, formerly the New England Whalers, was an ice hockey team in Connecticut. From 1972-1979, the team played in the World Hockey Association (WHA) and from 1979-1997 played in the National Hockey League (NHL). In 1997, the Whalers franchise relocated to North Carolina, where it became the Carolina Hurricanes.
