DescriptionTwo medals from the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg held in 1938.
(.1) A medal (a) worn by Henry W. Burrill, a Civil War veteran. At the top of the medal is an eagle holding a shield in each of its talons. On the left is a striped shield (the Union flag) and on the right is the Confederate flag. A red, white, blue, and gray ribbon is attached between the eagle and the round medal. A bronze bar is attached to the center of the ribbon and engraved with the name, "HENRY W. BURRILL." A round medal is suspended from the ribbon. In the center is a relief image of a column and axe head with plants on either side. Inscribed around the edge is "75TH ANNIVERSARY/ BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG." The medal is in the original box (b). The box is a blue cardboard box with gray lettering on the top of the box. The medal is sitting on a white velvet pad.
(.2) A badge (b) worn by Hugo E. Patz. At the top of the badge is a bronze piece in a rectangular shape and two shields at the bottom. The shield on the left has stripes (the Union flag) and on the right is the Confederate flag. Inscribed at the top is "ATTENDANT/ 75TH ANNIVERSARY/ BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG" and engraved in the center is "HUGO E. PARTZ." Patz's name is spelled incorrectly on the badge. Suspended from the bronze piece is a red, white, blue, and gray ribbon. The badge is in the original box (b). The box is a blue cardboard box with gray lettering on the top of the box.
