DescriptionChild's dress of white cotton, with hand-embroidered whitework decoration. The dress has a wide, square neckline, with a scalloped edging. The neckline is controlled by a triple row of drawstrings across the front and across the back. The bodice front is embroidered in a V shape with eyelet flowers and satin-stitched vines. The centers of two flowers are filled with needlework lace. The short sleeves are scalloped and embroidered around the arm opening. The bodice is slightly gathered at center front and gathered across the back into the 1 1/4-inch-wide waistband, which is embroidered with a design resembling berries and leaves. The full skirt is closely gathered into the waistband. It is decorated with two bands of multiple narrow tucks. The hem is scalloped and embroidered with a berry-like design. The center back opening extends 11 1/4 inches and fastens with brass hooks and thread eyes at the wasitband, and with the drawstring at the neckline.
