At the top of the badge is a pin-back button with a black and white image of Robert O. Tyler. Beneath the button is a red ribbon with gold lettering.
NotesHistorical Note: The 1st Connecticut Volunteer Heavy Artillery Regiment was formed in the spring of 1861, as the Fourth Volunteer Infantry. In January of 1862, the regiment was converted into a heavy artillery unit.Status
