DescriptionA brass commemorative coin for the Southern New England Telephone Company. The front of the coin is embossed around the edge with "WORLD'S FIRST COMMERCIAL TELEPHONE EXCHANGE JAN. 28, 1878." At the center of the coin is an embossed image of a telephone switchboard, and beneath it says "NEW HAVEN/ CONNECTICUT." On the reverse side of the coin is an embossed image of a bell with the words "Southern/ New England/ Telephone" beneath. The coin is housed in a blue velvet pouch, which is in a blue cardboard box. On the top of the box, printed in silver it says "Southern New England Telephone/ 1878-1978/ 100/ BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE."
