DescriptionA portable apothecary balance in a wooden case with locking hooks for closure. Scale pans are attached to balance arms with green string. Pans have three flowers engraved in the center. There are twelve spots for currency analytical weights, but only ten remain. A hidden compartment on the right side of the case contains seven grain analytical weights. The weight compartments are labeled as such: 2 Louis; Neus; Louis; 4 Louis; 2 Louis; Louis; Cougar (?); Grain; Ducat; Portugias; Guine; Portugias; and Portugias. Originally owned by Dr. Cyrus Pendleton of Hebron, Conn.
