DescriptionChild's dress of white cotton, woven with heavier threads to create a plaid pattern. The neckline is wide and round. The bodice is gathered into the yoke and into the 1 1/4-inch-wide waistband. The short sleeves consist of two layers of flared self-fabric ruffles, edged with machine-made lace. The armscye and waistline seams are piped. The full skirt is gathered all around the waist. Two 5 1/2-inch-wide flounces of self-fabric, cut on the bias and edged with lace, decorate the skirt. The center back opening extended originally about 12 1/4 inches (it has torn beyond this point); it fastens with five mother of pearl buttons. The bodice is lined with plain, white cotton.
