DescriptionMan's nightshirt of white cotton, with a turn-down collar and a center front placket opening edged with a narrow self-fabric ruffle. The placket extends about 16 1/2 inches and fastens with two mother of pearl buttons. A casing around the neckline and buttonhole-stitched openings suggest the use of a drawstring. There is a pocket over the proper left breast, cut in the shape of a quarter-circle, with the rounded side up and the opening along the flat edge running parallel to the placket opening. This pocket edge is decorated with a ruffle. The two-piece sleeves are decorated with a pointed cuff effect, edged with a ruffle, at the wrist opening. The back of the nightshirt is gathered into the shoulder yoke. The front and back panels curve up at the side seams, which are open for about fourteen inches from the bottom.
