DescriptionViews of various locations in and around Middletown during a 1927 flood of the Connecticut River. Photographs include: automobiles; rowboats; utility poles and wires; street lights; wooden fences; gas stations and gas pumps; automobile bridges and railroad bridges; leafless trees; brick buildings; residential neighborhoods with wood frame houses; commercial buildings; factories; a truck; and a loading dock. Locations include: Hartford Avenue; Bridge Street; Sumner Street; and Water Street. Businesses include: Red Wing Gas Co.; City Coal Co.; The I.E. Palmer Co.; Valley Oil Company; Frank Schwacher's automobile dealership; The Hartford and New York Transportation Company; and A. Cyranowicz Meats and Groceries. Several people are visible in the images, most looking on at the edge of the floodwaters, including men, women, and children. Many images were taken next to the Connecticut River, looking both north and south.
