DescriptionMan's shirt of white cotton with a neckband worked with a buttonhole at center back for attaching a separate collar. The plastron front is stitched with four 1 1/4-inch-deep tucks, oriented towards the center. The button placket opening extends the length of the plastron, about twelve inches. It fastens with a mother of pearl button near the bottom and with a white plastic stud at the neck band. The armscyes are reinforced with a two-inch-wide lining. The shoulders are also lined, creating a yoke effect which is pointed at center back. The sleeves are slightly full, being eased into the shoulder and slightly gathered at the back of the wrist into the 3 3/4-inch-wide cuffs. The cuffs fasten with one mother of pearl button near the sleeve seam; two buttonholes along the opposing edge indicate the use of a stud. The body of the shirt is slightly flared, with the side seams open for about 8 1/2 inches from the bottom edge; the top of the seam openings are reinforced with a gusset.
