DescriptionMan's dress shirt of white cotton with a starched plastron front, which is open for the length of its center and has two opposing eyelets worked for closing with a stud. The stud remains in the narrow band collar for attaching a separate, starched collar. The shirt is also open for 14 1/4 inches down the center back and closes with a stud at the center back neckline. A narrow cotton tape is stitched to the shoulder yoke (purpose unclear). Double tabs extending from the sides of the plastron front are worked with button-holes, presumably for attaching around suspenders to keep them up. The long sleeves end in 1 1/2-inch-wide cuffs, which also close with studs (no longer with the shirt). The front and back panels of the shirt are curved at the sides. The back panels are pleated into the shoulder yoke to provide ease.
