DescriptionA political cartoon depicting a well-fed boy seated at a table full of food. He wears a jacket with a lace collar, and he is smiling. He holds a knife and a fork in his left hand. His right hand rests on a slab of roast beef on a platter. A small plate of pickles, a plate of oysters, a tankard of beer or ale, a condiment tray with four cruets, and a tablecloth are also on the table. A bull dog is seated at the right, begging for food. The boy sits on a terrace with a tiled floor. A large fluted column is at the left, and a pergola covered with grape vines is at the right. In the background two steamships are at sea. The ship at the left has an American flag flying from its stern and a banner inscribed: "COAL?" flying from its foremast. The second ship flies a British flag and a pennant that reads: "290". On shore, a man in military uniform stands beside a flag pole from which a second British flag inscribed: "NO!" Additional soldiers with cannons and ramrods line the shore. Behind the cannons are a group of barrels and an anchor.
