DescriptionA full-length standing portrait of an elderly African American man wearing a coat, vest, shirt, necktie, trousers, and shoes. A thin chain, probably a watch chain, extends across his vest. In his right hand he holds a long rope, probably attached to a bell, which extends from above. In his left hand he holds two keys. A broom rests in the crook of his arm. A wooden bucket is on the floor behind him.
