DescriptionMan's vest of black silk, woven with a design of stripes and diamonds. The vest has a deep, narrow shawl collar forming a U-shaped neckline. The center front opening fastens with four carved abalone buttons with brass shanks, held in place with brass pins. Each side of the front is pointed, so that the bottom edge is W-shaped in the center. There are two breast pockets and two 4 1/2-inch-wide lower pockets. The backing fabric is black silk satin woven or impressed with a subtle, narrow stripe. The fit of the vest adjusts with a buckled strap across the lower back.
