DescriptionInfant's dress of fine, white linen. The dress has a high, round neckline edged with scalloped whitework embroidery under a binding, through which a drawstring is inserted. The front panel of the dress tapers from the shoulders to the waist, then flares to the bottom of the skirt. It is ornamented with horizontal bands of narrow tucks alternating with strips of whitework embroidery with a leaf motif. This panel is edged with scalloped whitework matching that used on the neck. The long sleeves are bordered around the wrists with a band of the leaf motif whitework, edged on each side with the scalloped whitework. The bottom of the skirt has a 3 5/8-inch-wide ruffle of fine quality whitework with a different leaf motif. The center back opening of the dress extends ten inches and fastens with three small mother of pearl buttons.
