DescriptionPhotographs document the early childhood of Martin A. Gilman from the age of two months to approximately two years old. Some photographs include Martin's father, Albert James Gilman, and mother, Bertha Petersen Gilman. Martin appears as a baby in a highchair, in a wicker baby carriage, and in a stroller. Many photographs appear to have been taken at the family home, 58 Sisson Avenue, Hartford. Others were taken at White Horse Beach in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Four photographs of Martin A. Gilman's first child as an infant, five weeks to four months old, were added to the end of the album at a later date. Also pictured, Salome Scheider Petersen, mother of Bertha Petersen Gilman, and grandmother of Martin A. Gilman.
NotesSubject Note: Martin A. Gilman, born in March 1915, was the son of Albert James Gilman and his wife, Bertha Petersen Gilman. Albert James Gilman was employed by the Southern New England Telephone Company in Hartford from 9 May 1910 until his retirement on 1 May 1936. At the time of Martin's birth, the family was residing at 58 Sisson Avenue, Hartford.
