DescriptionA keeper in uniform leads an adult African elephant chained to a baby elephant down a city street. Behind them, two additional keepers lead dromedary camels. A man on a bicycle rides nearby. Trolley tracks are in the road. Men, women, girls, and boys line the sidewalk looking on. Some women and girls use umbrellas as parasols. Some men wear straw hats. Most girls wear hats decorated with artificial flowers. An infant in the left background is in a baby carriage. Brick commercial buildings and utility poles line the street. A statue of a woman in classical dress on a high base in front of the monument company. Stones, apparently blocks of marble, rest against the wall. Some windows have awnings. The building at the right has a round, arched window and corbel tables decorating its facade. A gas street light is at the right. Signs read: "MONUMENTS" "J.C. BATTERSON" "J.S. RUSSELL" "ANTIQUE / FURNITURE/ FOR SALE HERE". A horse-drawn delivery wagon with a sign that reads: "ICE" is in the right background.
