DescriptionAdolescent girl's dress of gray and turquoise woven-stripe silk. The high, round neckline is surrounded by a pleated ruff of bias self-fabric, edged with turquoise silk. The long sleeves have turn-back cuffs edged with turquoise silk and decorated with four buttons covered with the turquoise silk. Buttonholes are suggested by bias strips of matching silk. The armscyes are piped. The dress is fitted with four long vertical darts in front and a horizontal dart on each side at the waist. There is a patch pocket on the lower proper right side. It is piped and lined with turquoise silk and pleated at the top to create a ruffled effect. Three silk buttons decorate the pocket, along with a bow at the pointed pocket bottom. The bottom of the dress skirt is edged with a bias self-fabric pleated ruffle, edged with turquoise silk. Above this is a band of bias self-fabric and turquoise silk. The dress opens down the center back for about 22 inches and fastens with thirteen silk-covered buttons. The dress is lined with tan cotton sateen in the bodice area and with glazed brown cotton in the skirt. The bottom edge of the skirt is bound with blue wool tape.
