DescriptionInfant's dress of white cotton, with V-shaped panel of whitework embroidery on center front bodice. The wide, square neckline is controlled by a drawstring. The short sleeves have a semi-circular insertion of whitework at the shoulder, and a flat ruffle of whitework. The sleeve edges are scalloped and embroidered. The waist is surrounded by a band of whitework flanked by faggoting. The skirt is closely gathered all around the waist. It has ten series of three tucks throughout its length. The dress opens down the center back for 10 1/2 inches; it closes with a drawstring at the neck. There is no evidence of a closure at the waist-- pins were possibly used.
