DescriptionA woman holds a young child, probably a boy, up to look at a framed portrait, probably an oil painting, of a man. She wears a dress with scalloped flounces and a necklace of beads. The child wears a short dress with a lace collar, checked stockings, and slippers. The man wears a coat, vest, and necktie. He has sideburns. Printed drapery, some of it with fringes, and an elaborate valance, trimmed with tassels, are at the left. A bowl or basket of flowers, probably including roses, is on a small table covered with a tablecloth at the far right.
