DescriptionA woman is seated on a bench within a stone garden structure covered with vines, probably grape vines, located within extensive gardens. She wears a dress trimmed with lace. A small boy wearing trousers and a smock is seated beside her. A small girl wearing a straw hat and a short dress over a longer petticoat trimmed with ruffles stands at the left. An infant holding a doll is seated on a low wooden stool at the woman's feet. The bench and stool rest on a carpet, possibly an oriental carpet, edged with fringe. The woman holds a handkerchief with eyelet trim containing seeds spread in her lap. Five pigeons feed on the cobblestone pavement at the left. A sixth pigeon flies above them. Grassy lawn, paths, a stone wall, and trees are in the left background.
NotesDate Note: It appears that the only date when E.C. Kellogg was located at 34 Elm Street and Ensign, Thayer & Co. were in business was 1851. (Finlay 9/27/2002)
