DescriptionNeedlework picture consisting of medium dark and light green, medium brown, white, pink, red, yellow and purple silk threads, and light, medium and dark green, pink, brown and black paint, on a satin-woven white silk ground. The picture shows a spray of embroidered red, white, purple and yellow flowers on stems with leaves. This is surrounded by an oval, hand-painted border of small pink flowers and green leaves on a vine. The ground is backed with a piece of muslin. The muslin and ground are laced at the back around an oblong, octagonal piece of card stock (replaced).
Stitches: The primary stitch on the needlework picture is satin stitch; it also includes encroaching satin, long and short, and outline.
Condition: The pink paint on the border is faded. The silk thread has minor fading. The card stock stretcher and lacings are replaced. The ground has some slight puckering around the needlework. The ground has some minor stains.
