In center foreground two boys stand, one dressed in green the other in red, the one in green holds a black hat under his arm. Both have wide white ruffled collars. At right a man, from his dress evidently a farmer, kneels on one knee and in front of him is a hat filled with apples and a bag from which he has emptied more apples. His coat and pants are light colored. His hat is on the floor beside him. Two other boys wearing darks suits with wide white ruffled collars are looking in through the open door.
Shiny black frame with gilt molding.]
NotesDate Note: The exact date of this painting is unknown, but it was known to be in the Hartford Museum at the Old State House as of 1824. And if the artist attribution to Jeremiah Paul is correct, he died in 1820, and his active period is said to be from 1791, so it is probably after that date.
