DescriptionInfant's slip with a cream-colored wool flannel skirt gathered to a plain, white linen bodice. The bodice is straight, about six inches wide, and has white twill-woven cotton tape shoulder straps. The skirt has seven half-inch tucks taken around the lower half. The bottom edge is scalloped and finished with buttonhole stitch in cream-colored silk thread. Above this is chain-stitch embroidery in a meandering, soutache-like design. The blue outlines of the embroidery pattern are visible. The center back of the slip is open for about 12 1/4 inches. Pin marks show how it closed. The left edge of the opening in the skirt is embellished with featherstitching in a fine thread.
