DescriptionAutomobiles are parked beside the sidewalk in front of a brick commercial building on a city street corner. Signs on businesses read: "D.W. TRACY" "DRUGS AND MEDICINES" "VOGEL JEWELRY CO." "A. WEISBERG" "P.O'CALLAGHAN & CO. / NEW ENGLAND BREWING CO.'S EXTRA LAGER" "CAFE" "CHARTER OAK / TAILORING CO. / SUITS". Merchandise is displayed in shop windows. Advertising signs stenciled on the side of the building read: "P.O'CALLAGHAN & CO. / FRANKLIN JONES / ALES AND PORTER" "NEW ENGLAND / BREWING / CO.'S EXTRA LAGER." A fire escape is on the side of the building. Street signs on the corner of the building read: "MAIN ST." "WELLS ST." Two men stand on the corner. Trolley tracks are in the paved street. Trolley wires cross overhead.
NotesSubject Note: D. Wallace Tracy was the proprietor of a drugstore at 515 Main Street.
According to the book "Hartford Jews", William Vogel was born in Austria in 1880. In 1908, he founded Vogel Jewelers in Hartford. He died in 1948. William Vogel & Sons was located at 519 Main Street.
Abner Weisberg was the proprietor of a shoe store at 521 Main Street.
