DescriptionInscription on verso provides a detailed description: Front porch looking west at 49 Woodland with one of thirteen chestnut trees beyond. Standing at left Emily. Seated in double rocker Mrs. Perkins and Mary on right. Nut cracker with hickory nuts on table at left. Hickory tree just out of picture. Virginia creeper fine. Outside walls of house two feet thick cement with field stones. Inside wall one and one half feet thick. Gothic recessed windows. Meadow in distance where cows grazed.
Additional description:
The woman identified as Emily stands behind a chair and holds onto its back with both hands. She wears a dress with what appears to be a watch attached to the belt cinched at her waist. "Mary"' wears eyeglasses and a dress with a bustle. The Virginia creeper vine grows up the exterior of the porch. An unoccupied chair with a woven seat is in the foreground.
