DescriptionA large group of men and women in seventeenth-century costume stand on a barge in the middle of the Connecticut River. Many wear cloaks or capes. Men wear tall hats. Some wear armor. They are accompanied by horses, oxen and a dog. Men dressed as Native Americans are in canoes nearby. Crowds of spectators, the dome of the Colts Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company, a steamboat at a dock and the Dutch Point plant of the Hartford Electric Light Company are visible on the shore in the background.
NotesSubject Note: The Bulkeley Bridge opened to trolley traffic on December 8, 1907 and to the general public on December 21, 1907. The dedication of the bridge was the occasion of a three-day celebration on October 6,7, and 8, 1908.Status
