DescriptionIron girders rest on wooden beams and logs supported on wooden pilings. A large metal component constructed of metal plates riveted together is suspended from a derrick by chains. Ropes are attached to a pulley. Workmen, some wearing overalls, stand nearby.
NotesSubject Note: The first highway bridge across the Connecticut River between Old Saybrook and Old Lyme was begun in 1910 and dedicated in August 1911.
