DescriptionElectric lights are strung across the entrance to the Bulkeley Bridge. Light bulbs spell out "1808" and "1908." American flags fly at either side. Banners strung from utility poles are barely visible in the darkness. The lights of automobiles on the bridge are blurred from movement. A sign on a building at the left reads: "Ropkins."
NotesSubject Note: Ropkins & Co., brewers and bottlers of ales and porter, were located at 232-242 Sheldon Street, Hartford. The Bulkeley Bridge opened to trolley traffic on December 8, 1907 and to the general public on December 21, 1907. The dedication of the bridge was the occasion of a three-day celebration on October 6,7, and 8, 1908.
