DescriptionCanoes are drawn up on the bank of the Connecticut River in the foreground. They are painted with designs that are meant to be Native American. Two barges are on the river at the right. A group of men and women in seventeenth-century costume stand on the shore with a yoke of oxen and a horse. Additional costumed re-enactors are near teepees. Crowds of spectators are in the left and right background. The Bulkeley Bridge is in the distance.
NotesSubject Note: The Bulkeley Bridge opened to trolley traffic on December 8, 1907 and to the general public on December 21, 1907. The dedication of the bridge was the occasion of a three-day celebration on October 6,7, and 8, 1908.
