DescriptionCrowd of men, women, boys and girls in an open area beneath trees. Booths are in the background. Some women wear straw hats. One holds an umbrella or parasol. An infant is in a wicker baby carriage. Two men in the right foreground wear band uniforms. Booths are decorated with American flags, a red cross flag and bunting. Electric [?] lights and lanterns hang from wires. Signs read: "Meriden / Lodge / Elks / No. 35" "Sons of St. George" "[Y]W.C.A." "Susan... Clarke / D.A.R." "Meriden Hospital." Inscribed on back: "Dear Grandma / here is a postal / of the carnival / to ad [sic] to your collection had a fine time up / there. Am out of / work for a few weeks / will see you soon / Merritt."
