DescriptionMen in seventeenth-century costume advance up a rocky slope. Most wear tall hats and capes. One man carries a staff. One wears eyeglasses. One has a mustache. One wears armor. Some lead cows, oxen or horses. A woman is seated sidesaddle on one of the horses. Additional men and women disembark from a barge on the Connecticut River. Parts of two canoes and a man dressed as a Native American are at the far right.
NotesSubject Note: The Bulkeley Bridge opened to trolley traffic on December 8, 1907 and to the general public on December 21, 1907. The dedication of the bridge was the occasion of a three-day celebration on October 6,7, and 8, 1908.
