DescriptionAn electric trolley car is at the entrance to the covered bridge across the Connecticut River. A sign over the entrance reads: "The riding or driving of / Horses, Teams or Carriages on /this Bridge in a faster gait than [a] / Walk is by Law prohibited." The bridge rests on stone abutments. Utility poles carry wires across the river. A dirt road in the foreground has a chicken wire fence beside it. A pile of lumber is beside the fence at the left.
NotesSubject Note: The covered bridge across the Connecticut River at Hartford was constructed in 1818. It was destroyed by fire on May 17, 1895.
