DescriptionEmbankments and railroad tracks are under construction. A wooden form is at left. The competed portion of the wall is faced with stone blocks, apparently granite. Fill appears to be sand. A wooden construction shed is at the left. Smoke or steam rises from the roof. A crane is in the background. Construction equipment is on the tracks. Workmen are in the right background. One man uses a wheelbarrow. Lumber and piles of dirt and sand are nearby. Commercial and residential buildings are beyond the embankment on the right. Utility poles, a smokestack, a large gas tank, and laundry hanging from clotheslines are visible. The Connecticut River is on the left. A shed beside the river has a sign that reads "Ice."
