DescriptionMen, some with shovels, work near railroad or trolley tracks. A derby hat is on a pile of sand in the foreground. Utility poles and wires line the streets. Electric light bulbs with shades are on the pole in the left foreground. A street lamp in the center appears to be a gaslight. Brick commercial buildings, many with striped awnings, are on both sides of the street. Posters on the building at the left read: "Poli's / own / Company / Poli's / Stock / Company / Rosedale / Poli's Theatre / Week of / July 13." Signs on businesses read: "East Side / Millinery / 210" "Shoes / and / Rubbers" "Â…nberg Bros. / Furniture." A sign at the far right reads: "Hot /Soup / 12 to 1." A street sign on the corner of the building reads: "Morgan St." Horse-drawn wagons crowd the street in the background.
