DescriptionParade float representing a Viking ship. Some of the people marching behind the float wear sashes. Crowds of men, women, and children line the sidewalks on both sides of the street. Banners hang from utility poles. Across the street are St. Peter's Church and its convent, a large brick building.
NotesSubject Note: Hartford celebrated the 300th anniversary of the founding of Connecticut with a parade on October 12, 1935. It included 20,000 marchers, 105 floats, twelve large divisions, thirty bands, over 500 separate organizations and 20 national groups. It was watched by 400,000 people and took three hours to pass by. The Sisters of Mercy lived at St. Peter's Convent, 188 Main Street, Hartford. St. Peter's Church was located at 170 Main Street, Hartford.Status
