DescriptionView looking south on Main Street. Several men ride bicycles down the middle of the street. A unit of men in uniform marches behind them. Horse-drawn carriages and wagons are also in the street. Crowds of spectators line the sidewalks. Horse-drawn wagons in the foreground have signs that read: "C.S. Brewer & Co. /Wholesale / Fruit Dealers / 238 & 240 Asylum St." and "Adams Express [Company]." A horse-drawn omnibus has a sign that reads: "Main Street R.R. Depot and Farmington Ave." Utility poles, street lamps and a clock are on the sidewalks. Buildings on the west side of Main Street include State Bank and the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. Many businesses have awnings. Some buildings have signs that read: "Geo. W. Moore / & Co. / Mortgage / Loans" and "Hurd, Mellen & Hewes / China, Glassware, Lamps / Tin Ware, Stoves, and Ranges." The steeple is that of Center Congregational Church.
