DescriptionChippendale flat-top chest on chest signed by Ephraim Grant of Stonington, Connecticut, about 1790.
The upper case having cove shaped cornice molding over four short drawers centering a carved sunburst above three long drawers. Lower case with three long drawers suppported by ogee bracket feet centering a spurred dro pendant.
Brasses are probably original.
Inscriptions on backboards read, on the upper case, "Ephraim Grant"; on the lower case, "Mary Smith Her Draws [sic] Made by Ephraim Grant of Stonington"; back of upper case short drawer also bears the inscription, "Stonington"; additional inscription underneath is illegible.
