DescriptionExterior view of the Cheney block, a Richardsonian Romanesque commercial building of rock-faced brownstone, with round arches and square towers at the corners. Striped awnings are over some windows. Brown, Thomson & company, a department store, occupies the ground floor. Merchandise, including women's dresses, bodices and fabrics, are displayed in large plate glass shop windows. Signs read: "Brown / Thomson / & Company" "Great Sale..." Stenciled on upper windows are signs that read: "C.K. Bryant / Dentist" "Harry Pepper / Vocal Studio" "Millinery." An automobile and a bicycle are by the sidewalk. Trolley tracks are in the street. A man stands by a fire hydrant on the corner.
