DescriptionPieced quilt in the Star of Bethlehem pattern. The quilt consists of a pieced top of hand-stitched plain-woven cotton, batting, and a white plain-woven cotton backing; the three layers are joined with a hand-stitched quilting pattern. The star is constructed of concentric rings of diamonds of printed bright red, yellow and blue cotton fabric. The quilted pattern consists of a field of diagonal, parallel lines and an undulating leafy vine which winds around a repeating geometric pattern; the leafy vine and geometric shapes overlap with the tip of each point of the star. The pieced chevron border consists of diamond-shaped pieces alternating between two different color fabrics. Each edge of the quilt has a straight-grain fabric binding.
Condition: The top and backing have light, scattered stains. The quilt has moderate yellowing.
