DescriptionFrame building, formerly a residence, converted to a commercial building through the addition of a porch. Signs read: "459 Furniture warerooms / G.F. Ables." "Chiffoniers. Bed couches. Chamber Suits. Parlor Suits. Mattresses. Stoves & Ranges. Extension Tables. Sideboards." "Geo. F. Abels" "I. Collins" "Shaving Parlor" "Barber Shop" "Geo. M. Goodell" "New / Stock / of / Rubber Boots & shoes" "461. / Cheapest / and Best" "Low / Prices / Rule." Rubber boots are displayed outside the shop at the right, which has a striped awning. Inscribed on back: "The ancient Talcott house on Main Street west side / opposite the North Baptist Church and just north of the Arlington hotel (St. Johns)..." A newspaper clipping gives details of the building's history and demolition.
