DescriptionThree-story brick commercial building with a gambrel roof. A sign over the storefront reads: "Stoves. John C. McManus. Furnaces." A smaller sign reads: "J.C. McManus & Sons." Stoves and furnaces are displayed in the shop windows. A sign over an alley at the right reads: "Tin, Copp[er].. / & Sheet Iron W[orks]" An automobile is parked near a utility pole at the left.
NotesSubject Note: The Amos Bull house, constructed in 1788, now (2001) houses the Connecticut Historical Commission. Amos Bull, the first owner, sold dry goods on the ground floor and conducted a school in the house before selling it in 1841. John C. McManus established his business on Main Street, Hartford in 1869. The address appears as 344-350 Main Street at various times.
