DescriptionOffice interior. Men in suits stand at counters on both sides of the room. Some have mustaches. Some write in ledgers. Windows at the left surrounded with iron scrollwork appear to be tellers windows. Light fixtures by windows appear to be gaslights. Fixtures with electric light bulbs hang from the ceiling. A clock, a framed print of a stag by Thomas Landseer (the company logo of the Hartford Fire Insurance Co.), and a calendar that reads: "Phoenix /1902 May" hang on the right wall. A framed copy of "The Hartford Weekly Guide" is nearby. A swivel chair and a large desk are in the foreground. A man in the background files papers into pigeonholes in a tall cabinet. The number "716" is stenciled on the transom above the door. Inscribed on back: "Hartford Times interior 716 Main Street, Hartford / Phoenix calendar reads ? May, 1902.
