DescriptionInfant's shirt of fine white cotton, with a wide, round neckline and short sleeves trimmed with 3/4-inch-wide bobbin lace. The body and sleeves are cut as one. The shoulder seam is inserted with decorative buttonhole stitching in a diamond pattern. The side seams are flat-felled. The shirt has a center back opening.
NotesHistorical Note: This shirt was stored with thirteen other clothing items in a box marked "Lydia Huntley Sigourney's Baby Clothes" when it was given to the Hartford Public Library. Lydia Huntley Sigourney had a son, Andrew, who died in 1850 at the age of 19. These clothes may have belonged to him.Status
